The "Are Men OK" Promotional Junket
Talking about my Nation cover story on podcasts and the radio
It has been two weeks since my cover story for The Nation was published, and I relaunched this Substack. It was a profile of Richard V. Reeves, the President of the American Institute for Boys and Men, that explored how a “proudly boring” British policy wonk has become the man in the middle in our national conversation about the state of American Men. This is a subject people seem to want to read about. The last time I wrote about it (some have called it the the definitive story on the manosphere) for Mother Jones in 2023, it was the most widely read story I’d ever written. “Are Men OK,” seems to be resonating widely, too. I’ve done six interviews since it came out, on a wide variety of podcasts and radio programs. Each conversation has taken a new direction, and it’s been fascinating to hear what people are taking from the story, their disagreements, and what they think about the topic more broadly. I’ve collected them here.
